On 25th January 2026, marked the realization of a long-cherished aspiration during a meaningful and inspiring engagement at the Art of Living International Centre, Bengaluru. The interaction, held as part of meetings conducted from 25–27 January 2026, brought together Dr. Markandey Rai and Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji in a warm, reflective, and one-to-one dialogue focused on peace, values, and global harmony.
The meeting carried deep personal and symbolic significance for Dr. Rai, as it followed a long journey of engagement dating back to 5 June 2012, when he had earlier participated in a public debate with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji on issues of Human Consciousness, Environment Protection and conservation. ethical leadership. The realization of this interaction in 2026 reflected continuity of dialogue, mutual respect, and the maturation of shared perspectives developed over more than a decade.
Conducted in a cordial and contemplative atmosphere, the discussions covered a wide spectrum of national and international cultural, social, and ethical issues. Both leaders emphasized the urgent need for value-based leadership, inner transformation, and compassionate action to address contemporary global challenges such as social polarization, conflict, and erosion of trust. They agreed that sustainable peace must be rooted in inner awareness and collective responsibility. A shared commitment was expressed to work together to promote peace, harmony, and human dignity through dialogue, education, and service-oriented initiatives.
A central highlight of the engagement was the formal launch of Dr. Markandey Rai’s latest book on Spiritual Intelligence by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji. Gurudev appreciated the depth, relevance, and timeliness of the work, noting that spiritual intelligence is essential for aligning intellect with conscience and leadership with compassion. The book underscores the importance of integrating inner wisdom with professional competence in governance, education, and social development.
As the Chairman of The Global Peace Foundation India, Dr. Rai reiterated that sustainable peace cannot be achieved through competition, domination, or material progress alone, but through cooperation, empathy, and shared human values. He emphasized that spiritual intelligence serves as an inner compass guiding purpose-driven leadership and service to humanity.

The visit was marked by exceptional warmth and hospitality. Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji personally facilitated the interaction, assigned staff to support the engagement, and guided Dr. Rai around the campus, fostering a deeply cordial relationship. This meaningful engagement laid a strong foundation for future collaboration between GPF India and the Art of Living in peace education, youth leadership, and value-based social transformation.
